Bacchus Marsh Local History
Bacchus Marsh is a small town located in Victoria, Australia. The town was named after a nearby swamp, which was originally known as Marsh's Swamp. The name "Bacchus" was added to the name of the town in the 1850s, after the god of wine and celebration, to give the town a more interesting and attractive name. Bacchus Marsh is located about 45 kilometers northwest of Melbourne, and has a population of around 20,000 people.
